07.03.06: Free Budget Seminars

Local Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers, Burgis & Bullock are hosting two free budget seminars on Thursday 23 March, the day after Gordon Brown’s tenth budget speech since Labour came to power in 1997.

As this could well be the Chancellor’s last Budget, what can local businesses expect this year?

John Payne, a tax partner at Burgis & Bullock comments: “After the last general election, Gordon’s first Budget saw National Insurance increase by 1% which had a massive financial effect on employers. So, it is unlikely that he will risk the economy by increasing contributions again.

“From 6 April 2006, the Government will be making changes to the pension rules, so we envisage that Gordon will announce legislation changes and new regimes for pension planning. Other factors may include changes in the taxation of inheritance tax and trusts.”

The free budget seminars will take place on Thursday 23 March from 12-2.30pm at The Draycote Hotel in Rugby or alternatively from 5-7.30pm at the Trident Technology and Business Centre in Leamington Spa. Both seminars are available to all Burgis & Bullock’s clients, prospective clients and professional contacts.

Burgis & Bullock’s team of tax specialists will be available to answer questions, explain the intricacies of any tax changes and highlight any changes in legislation that will affect you and your business. After the speeches conclude, there will be a light buffet available and networking opportunities.
